Our materials
Organic cotton
From the beginning, we chose to only use 100% organic cotton, sourced from seeds that are non-GMO and grown without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Originally, we sourced our organic cotton exclusively from India.
The advantages of organic cotton compared to conventional cotton
• 26% less soil erosion potential
• 46% less impact on global warming
• 70% less acidification of land and water
• 91% less land and groundwater consumption
Recycled cotton
We want to reduce the manufacturing waste generated during production and strive for a circular model in which recycled cotton plays a key role.
Recycled polyester
We use recycled polyester from PET bottles to make our sweatshirts stronger, our accessories more durable and to create our outerwear collection.
Dealing with plastic waste is one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time. Around the world, around 9.5 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year, mostly after single use. Compared to non-recycled polyester, recycled polyester allows for significant energy savings in the manufacturing process. For our outerwear collection made from recycled polyester, we only use GRS-certified fabrics.
Recycled nylon
For our outerwear products we use recycled nylon made from repurposed industrial nylon yarn scrap.
Nylon is considered durable and robust, and at the same time is very light and comfortable to wear on the skin. Our collection includes a total of nine different products made from recycled nylon using GRS-certified fabrics.
MODAL
Modal is a versatile synthetic cellulose fiber valued for its exceptional softness. TENCEL™ obtains the fibers from naturally growing beech wood. The pulp-to-fiber process is environmentally friendly and energy self-sufficient and utilizes by-products. One of our TENCEL™ Modal products has OCS Blended certification.
